Laborer - Department of Public Works
The Village of Malverne, Nassau County, New York is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Laborer for the Department of Public Works.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs unskilled manual tasks; performs related duties as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES

Sweeps streets, gutters, and alleys and loads refuse into trucks.

Mows lawns, plants bulbs, shrubs and trees; spreads fertilizers, digs ditches, cleans culverts and catch basins, and shovels snow.

Loads and unloads equipment and supplies.

Performs unskilled construction work including mixing of concrete and assists in building rough cement forms.

Assists with road construction, paving and other activities including asphalt patching, grading and painting lines.

Erects posts and fences.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to learn the care and use of tools and equipment used in public works activities.

Ability to follow instructions.

Ability to perform manual labor.
STARTING SALARY: $ 56,008.52

Substitute Crossing Guard – Incorporated Village of Malverne
The Village of Malverne, Nassau County, New York has job openings for substitute Crossing Guards.
The primary responsibility of a Crossing Guard is to direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic at a specified location for the purpose of protecting children and other persons in the vicinity of a school building.
Typical duties include:

Direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic at assigned street intersection or crossing point.

Regulate directional flow of vehicular traffic in order to enable pedestrians to cross street.

Signal instructions and directions to operators of motor vehicles or pedestrians at crossing point.
